OUR AUSSIES

Our AKC / ASCA Grand Champion/Champion Australian Shepherd bloodlines were selected based on temperament, agility, moderate herding drive, and correct conformation. They are excellent all-around bloodlines that will be willing and capable of anything from show or competition, to working livestock or just companion lap dogs at home. My goal is to raise an all around Aussie that has an “on” switch and an “off” switch. Most of all, they just want to be near their family.

I have a relatively small breeding program with the sole goal of promoting the breed standard and producing healthy, sound-minded, and loyal Australian Shepherd puppies that are conformationally correct, have been socialized well, and given the best beginning in life available so as they will make a wonderful addition to your family as a loved family member. I have been in love with this highly intelligent and loyal breed since I purchased my first Aussie puppy on an impulse at a horse show in Oklahoma for my daughter to commemorate her first Morgan Nationals in Oklahoma City. That was how it all started- with Isabella, “Izzy”. My daughter will swear to this day that Izzy was the best impulse purchase ever. This breed is the smartest, funniest, most unique, and most loyal animal I have owned. I had no idea how much of an influence this incredible dog would have on my life.

All of my Australian Shepherd breeding stock have had genetic testing for the common breed-specific genetic issues including but not limited to: Collie Eye Anomaly Mutation (CEA), Cone Degeneration (CD), Canine Multifocal Retinopathy Type 1 (CMR1), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), HSF-4 Hereditary Cataracts (HC), Ivermectin Sensitivity-Seizures (MDR1), Hyperuricosuria (SLC2A9), Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 6 (CLN6), Progressive Retinal Atrophy, and Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRCD). Both of my sires are n/n for all of these genetic traits. If I choose to breed to an outside stud dog, I insist that the dog not be a carrier of any trait that the bitch I am breeding to might carry as well. All my dams are either completely clear as well, or only carriers of a trait, not affected (M/n). This means that none of my puppies will be “affected” or considered having a mutation for any of these diseases. I follow the puppies that I produce as much as I can and adjust my breeding program based on tracking of health/conformation/personality traits. La Dolce Vita Farms Aussie puppies are well-socialized, partially potty trained, all come with their AKC and ASCA registration papers, a written health guarantee, current vaccinations, dewormed every two weeks since birth, dew claws done, tails docked, a bag of food, food bowls, a lead, and one or two toys at the time of delivery. They are adorable wiggle butts full of Aussie puppy kisses ready to fit right into your home.

It is important that you understand these dogs are NOT backyard dogs and will chew, dig, and escape. This is not to cause trouble or be “bad” but more often to just simply find you. They need lots of love, attention and consistency in training and have an undying desire to be near their people. I will do my best to match the temperament of the puppy/dog to the lifestyle of your family. If they receive the attention and consistent training necessary, they will be your mirror image, couch potato to workaholic, whatever your speed is.
